Aivastella

Aivastella is a fictional genus of bioluminescent marine microalgae described in speculative biology. It comprises several species that form star-shaped colonies, commonly called stellæ, with radial symmetry and soft, gelatinous outlines. The name combines stella, Latin for star, with a fictional prefix to evoke a futuristic or alien origin.

In taxonomy, Aivastella is placed in a provisional family, Aivastellaceae, within a broader clade of eukaryotic phototrophs. Because it exists in speculative literature, formal zoological nomenclature is not universally agreed upon; the genus is often presented as part of thought experiments about oceanic ecosystems.

Morphologically, individual cells measure a few micrometers and contain chloroplasts for photosynthesis. Colonial aggregates arrange into six- to eight-pointed star shapes, creating bright, bioluminescent displays at night.
