Ahmediah

Ahmediah is a town and municipality in the western plateau of the fictional country of Kharunia. It is the administrative center of Ahmediah District and sits approximately 120 kilometers from the coast. The town has a historic core and a population of about 72,000 people as of the latest census.

It lies on the southern bank of the Ahmedian River, with terrain ranging from rolling hills to flat plains. The climate is semi-arid, with hot summers and cool winters; average annual rainfall around 320 mm, concentrated in the monsoon season from July to September.

Founded in the 12th century as a caravan market on trade routes, Ahmediah grew under successive dynasties, developing a fortified town center named the Old Quarter. In the 19th century it became a regional administrative town; municipal status was granted in 1898; the 20th century saw industrial and educational development.

The economy centers on services, light manufacturing, and agro-processing. The Ahmediah Industrial Zone hosts textiles and food-processing facilities; the district benefits from a regional university campus and a technical college.

Cultural life centers on a historic bazaar district and annual festivals such as the Crescent Festival, featuring markets, music, and crafts. Official language is Ahmedian; several minority languages are spoken by immigrant communities.

Notable landmarks include the Old Fort, the Grand Mosque, and the City Library. The town is connected by a national highway and a regional rail line, with intercity buses providing regional service; the nearest port is 60 km away.
