Agremwrap

Agremwrap is a type of agricultural film used for silage production. It is a plastic film, typically made from polyethylene, designed to be stretched and wrapped around forage such as grass, hay, or corn. The primary purpose of agremwrap is to create an airtight seal around the ensiled material. This anaerobic environment prevents the growth of spoilage organisms and promotes the fermentation process carried out by lactic acid bacteria. This fermentation converts soluble carbohydrates into lactic acid and other organic acids, which lower the pH and preserve the forage.

The use of agremwrap allows for the storage of high-moisture forages that might otherwise be difficult to preserve. The wrapped bales or stacks are protected from rain, snow, and sun, which can degrade the quality of the silage. The film is available in various thicknesses and colors, with white and green being common choices. White reflects sunlight, helping to keep the silage cooler, while green can offer a balance of UV protection and aesthetics. Proper application of agremwrap is crucial for effective silage making, ensuring a tight seal to prevent oxygen ingress and maintain the nutritional value of the feed for livestock.
