Agglutinatsiooni refers to the process of adding prefixes or suffixes to the root of a word to form new words in agglutinative language systems. This process is typical in languages such as Turkish, Japanese, and Inuit, where words are constructed by attaching a fixed set of morphemes - or units of meaning - to a root word.

In agglutinative language systems, the root word typically contains the core meaning of the word, while the added affixes convey grammatical functions such as case, number, tense, or mood.
