Agglutinativelike is a descriptive label used in linguistics to characterize morphological systems that resemble agglutination in their word-formation patterns, without insisting that a language be a textbook example of an agglutinative language. In agglutinativelike systems, words are typically formed by a linear sequence of affixes added to a base or stem, with each affix generally expressing a single grammatical category such as tense, number, case, or mood. Bound morphemes are usually easily segmentable, and morpheme boundaries tend to be transparent to surface inspection. However, the label also acknowledges that many such languages exhibit deviations from pure agglutination, including allomorphy, vowel harmony, stem alterations, or occasional fusion of affixes.
