Adrenalininjekcióval refers to the medical administration of epinephrine, commonly known as adrenaline, via injection. Epinephrine is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands and also synthesized for medicinal purposes. It is a potent sympathomimetic agent, meaning it mimics the effects of the sympathetic nervous system.

The primary use of an adrenaline injection is in the emergency treatment of anaphylaxis, a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction. When administered, epinephrine rapidly reverses the symptoms of anaphylaxis by constricting blood vessels, reducing swelling, and opening up the airways, thereby improving breathing. It also increases heart rate and blood pressure.

Beyond anaphylaxis, adrenaline injections are also used to treat severe asthma attacks that do not respond to other treatments, and to prolong the effect of local anesthetics by constricting blood vessels at the injection site, reducing bleeding and slowing the absorption of the anesthetic.

Adrenaline is typically administered intramuscularly, with auto-injectors being a common form for self-administration by individuals with known severe allergies. Intravenous administration is reserved for more controlled settings, such as during cardiac arrest or in an operating room. While generally safe and effective when used appropriately, potential side effects can include increased heart rate, palpitations, anxiety, tremors, and headache. It is crucial that adrenaline injections are administered under medical guidance or in emergency situations as prescribed.
