Adgangskode

Adgangskode is the Danish term for a password. It is a secret string used to authenticate a person to a computer system, online service or device. The adgangskode serves as the primary element of access control and is typically entered together with a username or user ID. Depending on the service, it can be alphanumeric, numeric, or a longer passphrase.

Adgangskoder are used across many contexts, including online banking, government portals, email, cloud services and personal devices. In practice, many services require additional security measures such as two-factor authentication (2FA) or biometrics, but the adgangskode remains a fundamental credential for logging in.

Creating a strong adgangskode is essential for security. Good practices include using a long, unique password for each service, combining upper and lower case letters, digits and symbols, and avoiding common words, personal information, or easily guessable patterns. Do not reuse passwords across sites. If possible, use a password manager to generate and store complex passwords. Never share your adgangskode, and be cautious of phishing attempts that try to harvest it.

Secure handling and storage are important for organizations and services. Passwords should be stored server-side in a hashed and salted form using strong algorithms (for example bcrypt, Argon2, or scrypt). Users should avoid writing passwords down in insecure places and should keep devices secure with updated software and active anti-malware protections.

If an adgangskode is forgotten, use the service’s recovery options or reset process. Enabling multi-factor authentication adds another layer of security and is increasingly common in both public and private sector digital services.
