Adenylaattisyklaasientsyymiä, known in English as adenylyl cyclase, is a crucial enzyme found in cells that plays a key role in signal transduction pathways. Its primary function is to catalyze the synthesis of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) from adenosine triphosphate (ATP). cAMP is a vital second messenger molecule that relays signals from various extracellular stimuli, such as hormones and neurotransmitters, to intracellular targets.

This enzyme exists in multiple isoforms, with different forms being present in various tissues and cellular compartments. The activity of adenylyl cyclase is tightly regulated by a complex interplay of regulatory proteins and molecules.
