Addressutrymmen, often translated as address spaces, are fundamental concepts in computer science and networking. An address space refers to the set of all possible addresses that can be used to identify a location or resource within a system. This can apply to various contexts, such as physical memory, network devices, or virtual machines.

In computer memory, an address space defines the range of valid memory locations that a processor can access. Each byte or word in the computer's RAM is assigned a unique address within this space. Similarly, in networking, an address space encompasses all the IP addresses available within a particular network or the entire internet. This allows devices to be uniquely identified and communicate with each other.

The size and structure of an address space are determined by the addressing scheme used. For instance, a 32-bit address space can uniquely identify 2^32 different locations, while a 64-bit address space offers a significantly larger range. Understanding address spaces is crucial for managing resources efficiently, preventing conflicts, and ensuring proper data routing and access. Different systems may have different address spaces, and mechanisms like address translation are employed to bridge these differences when necessary.
