Actele

Actele is the plural form of act in Romanian, and in everyday and official language it refers to documents or deeds that have legal significance. These acts may be issued by public authorities or recognized private bodies and are used to prove facts, assert rights, or formalize obligations in civil, commercial, and administrative life.

In Romanian usage, actele are commonly grouped into several categories. Actele de stare civila include vital records such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, and death certificates. Actele notariale are notarial deeds and certificates used in property transactions, inheritance, contracts, wills, and powers of attorney. Actele juridice cover contracts, dispositions such as testaments, and other legal declarations. Actele de identitate, passports, driving licenses, and other official documents used to establish a person’s identity also fall under the broad sense of actele.

Issuance and custody typically involve different authorities. Civil status acts are issued by local civil registry offices, notarial acts by notaries, and other official acts by relevant public or judicial bodies. Copies or certified copies of acts can usually be requested by individuals or authorized entities, and corrections or amendments may be made through procedures provided by law when errors are found or circumstances change.
