Achtervlakspiegels

Achtervlakspiegels are a type of mirror design used primarily in telescopes and other optical instruments to increase their effective aperture and improve image quality.

The principle behind acquaintvlakspiegels is to use a set of curved mirrors, typically spherical or parabolic in shape, to intercept and redirect light rays that would otherwise be missed by a simple parabolic mirror. By reflecting light onto the back of another mirror, a secondary image of the primary mirror is created, which the corresponding secondary mirror is then set to act on this second "image" to intensify the effect of the first mirror, when light rays are reflected off the surface of the primary mirror, a portion of them misses the mirror completely.
