Acharit

The name Acharit combines the Eldaran elements achar meaning "river" and -it as a locative suffix, reflecting its location along the Achar River.

Acharit sits in a temperate river valley, about 120 meters above sea level. The surrounding landscape is farmland with small forests and a network of streams. The estuary-like river provides irrigation and historically supported trade.

The settlement dates to the 13th century in the narrative; it gained market rights in the 16th century and saw growth in the 18th–19th centuries with road and rail links. A major flood in 1876 reshaped the town's layout.
