Ablatsio is a term used in speculative fiction and some theoretical discussions to denote a dual concept: a material capable of emitting a narrowly targeted energy field and a corresponding process that uses that field to remove, erase, or alter material at very small scales. In most depictions, ablatsio is described as enabling nanoscale machining and selective alteration without harming neighboring structures.

The process is activated by a resonant energy input at a defined frequency.
