Aberdeenshires

Aberdeenshires is a colloquial term that sometimes refers to the Scottish council area of Aberdeenshire. This administrative region is located in the northeast of Scotland. It is bordered by the Moray council area to the west, Highland council area to the north, and Perth and Kinross and Angus council areas to the south. The North Sea lies to the east. The council area encompasses a significant portion of the historic county of Aberdeenshire, though some areas formerly part of the county are now administered by the city of Aberdeen council.

The landscape of Aberdeenshire is diverse, featuring a coastal plain along the North Sea in the east, which gradually rises to the Grampian Mountains in the west and south. This mountainous terrain includes notable peaks such as Lochnagar and Ben Macdui, the second-highest mountain in the United Kingdom. The region is known for its rugged beauty, with numerous glens, rivers, and ancient forests. The coastline is also varied, with sandy beaches, cliffs, and fishing villages.

The economy of Aberdeenshire has traditionally been based on agriculture, fishing, and whisky production. Tourism is also an important sector, attracting visitors to its castles, historical sites, and natural landscapes, including the Cairngorms National Park, which straddles the border with Aberdeenshire.
