Abeceda

Abeceda is a term used in Czech, Slovak and several other Slavic languages to denote the alphabet of a language—the set of letters used to write words, arranged in a fixed order. The concept is fundamental to literacy, spelling, and the organization of texts, dictionaries, and indexes.

The word abeceda originates from early teaching of the alphabet and is often linked to the first two letters of the alphabet, such as a and b, or to the Latin term abecedarium.
