AVsystoliskholosystolisk is a term that describes a complex cardiac murmur heard throughout both systole and diastole. It is characterized by a continuous sound that spans the entire cardiac cycle, unlike typical murmurs which are localized to specific phases of heart activity. This type of murmur is often associated with significant structural abnormalities of the heart.

The presence of an AVsystoliskholosystolisk murmur suggests a continuous flow of blood from a region of higher pressure to a region of lower pressure that persists from the beginning of ventricular contraction (systole) until the beginning of ventricular relaxation (diastole). Common underlying causes include patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), which is a persistent opening between the aorta and the pulmonary artery, or atrioventricular (AV) fistulas. Less commonly, it can be heard in certain types of severe valvular regurgitation or complex congenital heart defects.
