AVgraftilla

AVgraftilla is a neologism that has appeared in online discussions and fictional media as a portmanteau of "AV graft" (arteriovenous graft) and "guerrilla." As such, it does not denote a specific, widely recognized medical technique.

In medical literature, there is no standard procedure named AVgraftilla. When the term is used, it is typically metaphorical, describing improvised or unconventional approaches to obtaining arterial-venous access under challenging circumstances, or used in speculative fiction to describe disruptive ideas in graft design.

Because it implies improvisation rather than established practice, AVgraftilla carries safety and regulatory concerns. Established vascular access methods rely on approved devices and guidelines to minimize infection and thrombosis. Grafts commonly used in modern practice include expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) grafts for hemodialysis access, while autogenous fistulas are preferred when feasible.
