AIFMDsääntelyn
AIFMDsääntelyn, or the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive, is a European Union regulation aimed at enhancing the transparency, operational resilience, and investor protection of alternative investment funds. It was established under the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD IV) and came into effect on January 3, 2013. The directive applies to all alternative investment funds, including hedge funds, private equity funds, and certain real estate funds, as well as their managers.
The primary objectives of AIFMD are to promote the stability of the financial system, protect investors, and
AIFMD also introduces a passporting regime, allowing funds and their managers to operate across EU member states
