ADAT liitännät, or ADAT interfaces, are a digital audio connection standard used primarily in professional audio and music production environments. ADAT stands for Alesis Digital Audio Tape, referencing the original digital multitrack recorders that popularized the format. The interface uses TOSLINK optical cables to transmit digital audio signals.

A single ADAT connection can carry eight channels of uncompressed audio at a sample rate of 44.1 or 48 kHz. Higher sample rates can be accommodated by reducing the number of channels per connection; for example, 24-bit/96 kHz audio typically utilizes four channels per ADAT connection. This feature makes ADAT a versatile tool for connecting digital audio equipment such as audio interfaces, digital mixers, and digital effects processors.

The physical connector for ADAT is the same as the S/PDIF optical connector, a TOSLINK (Toshiba Optical Link) jack. However, ADAT operates at a higher bandwidth to accommodate the multiple audio channels. Two ADAT ports are often used in tandem to achieve a doubling of channel count, allowing for sixteen channels at 44.1/48 kHz or eight channels at 88.2/96 kHz. This bidirectional capability allows for simultaneous input and output of multiple audio streams. ADAT remains a common and reliable method for digital audio interconnectivity in studios worldwide.
