ACIDomadusi

ACIDomadusi is a theoretical framework in the field of distributed databases and transactional systems. It extends the traditional ACID model by incorporating a set of supplementary guarantees intended for heterogeneous, multi-cloud and edge environments. The term fuses ACID with omadusi, a coined concept representing a cluster of properties designed to improve cross-system transaction behavior.

Origin and concept: The term arose in academic discussions about reconciling strict transactional guarantees with the realities of distributed data stores. ACIDomadusi envisions a unified contract for transactions that span multiple data stores and service boundaries, supported by combining consensus mechanisms, versioned data, compensating actions, and enhanced observability.

Core properties: The traditional four ACID properties provide the backbone, while omadusi adds seven traits: Observability, Modularity, Adaptability, Determinism, Unification, Security, and Interoperability. Together, these aim to enable end-to-end visibility, easier composition of services, workload-aware behavior, deterministic outcomes for replay or recovery, a single semantic layer across stores, robust security guarantees, and interoperability among diverse data models and protocols.
