8K video refers to video content with a resolution of approximately 8000 pixels horizontally. The most common aspect ratio for 8K video is 16:9, resulting in a resolution of 7680 pixels horizontally by 4320 pixels vertically. This is often denoted as 7680x4320, or UHD-2, standing for Ultra High Definition 2. It represents a significant increase in detail compared to 4K (3840x2160) and Full HD (1920x1080) resolutions, offering four times the number of pixels as 4K and sixteen times the number of pixels as Full HD.

The increased pixel count in 8K video allows for sharper images with more intricate details, smoother motion, and a greater sense of depth. This enhanced visual fidelity can be particularly noticeable on larger displays or when viewed from closer distances. For professional applications, 8K provides greater flexibility in post-production, allowing for cropping and reframing without significant loss of quality.
