3DTiefenbildkamera

A 3DTiefenbildkamera, or 3D depth camera, is a device capable of capturing three-dimensional information about a scene in addition to standard two-dimensional visual data. This depth information represents the distance of each point in the scene from the camera.

There are several technologies employed by 3D depth cameras. Time-of-flight (ToF) cameras measure the time it takes for light, typically infrared, to travel from the camera to an object and back. Structured light cameras project a pattern of light, such as dots or lines, onto a scene and analyze the deformation of this pattern to infer depth. Stereo vision cameras use two or more lenses to capture images from slightly different viewpoints, similar to human eyes, and then compute depth by triangulating corresponding points in the images.

The output of a 3DTiefenbildkamera is often a depth map, which is a grayscale image where the intensity of each pixel corresponds to the depth of the object at that location. This depth data can be fused with the color image to create a point cloud, a collection of three-dimensional points representing the geometry of the scene.

3DTiefenbildkameras have found applications in various fields. In robotics and autonomous systems, they enable navigation, obstacle avoidance, and object recognition. In augmented reality and virtual reality, they allow for the creation of immersive experiences by accurately mapping real-world environments.
