1-Indenyls are organic compounds characterized by an indenyl group attached at the 1-position. In the case of 1-indenyls, the point of attachment to another molecular fragment is the carbon atom at position 1 of the indenyl system. This position is one of the two equivalent carbons in the five-membered ring that are not adjacent to the fusion point with the benzene ring.
