Ünlemisim is a linguistic term derived from the Turkish words “ünlem” (interjection) and “isim” (noun). The word describes a class of speech units that possess the expressive force of an interjection while fulfilling the syntactic role of a noun within a sentence. In practical usage, a ünlemisim can appear as a subject, object, or complement while its core meaning remains an exclamatory remark such as “Ah!”, “Ne!”, or “Vay!”.
