Återimpregnering refers to the process of reapplying a water-repellent treatment to materials that have lost their original water resistance. This is commonly done for textiles such as outdoor clothing, tents, and backpacks, as well as for natural materials like leather and wood. Over time, the factory-applied waterproofing wears off due to abrasion, washing, UV exposure, and general use.

The purpose of återimpregnering is to restore the material's ability to repel water, preventing it from becoming saturated. This not only enhances comfort by keeping the user dry but also helps to maintain the material's integrity and lifespan. Wet materials can become heavier, lose their insulating properties, and are more susceptible to damage like mold or mildew.
