ääriympäristöt
Ääriympäristöt, sometimes translated as extreme environments, are natural habitats characterized by conditions that are challenging for most life forms. These environments often push the boundaries of biological adaptation, requiring organisms to possess specialized physiological, biochemical, or structural traits to survive and reproduce.
Examples of ääriympäristöt include deep-sea hydrothermal vents, where immense pressure, high temperatures, and toxic chemical compounds
Organisms found in these environments are known as extremophiles. These microbes, plants, and animals have evolved
