Ösztrogénkibocsátás, or estrogen secretion, refers to the process by which estrogen, a type of steroid hormone, is produced and released into the bloodstream. Estrogen plays a crucial role in the reproductive system, influencing various physiological processes such as menstrual cycle regulation, bone health, and cardiovascular function. It is primarily produced by the ovaries in women and, to a lesser extent, by the testes in men and the adrenal glands in both sexes.

Estrogen secretion is regulated by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, which release hormones that stimulate the ovaries to produce estrogen. The levels of estrogen fluctuate throughout the menstrual cycle, with peak levels occurring during the follicular phase and a decline during the luteal phase. After menopause, estrogen levels significantly decrease, leading to various symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness.

Estrogen is also produced by peripheral tissues, including fat cells, the brain, and the placenta during pregnancy. These extra-ovarian sources contribute to the overall estrogen levels in the body. Disruptions in estrogen secretion can lead to hormonal imbalances and various health issues, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, and certain types of cancer. Therefore, understanding the mechanisms and regulation of estrogen secretion is important for diagnosing and managing these conditions.
