Óvulos

Óvulos are the female reproductive cells, also known as egg cells. They are produced by the ovaries in the female reproductive system. During a female's reproductive years, one ovum is typically released from an ovary each month during ovulation. This released ovum travels down the fallopian tube, where it can potentially be fertilized by a sperm.

If fertilization occurs, the ovum combines with a sperm to form a zygote, which then begins to divide and develop into an embryo. If fertilization does not occur, the ovum disintegrates and is expelled from the body along with the uterine lining during menstruation. Óvulos are large cells, containing a significant amount of cytoplasm and the female's genetic material in the form of chromosomes. They are essential for sexual reproduction in humans and many other species.
