Évtizedes

Évtizedes is a Hungarian adjective derived from the noun évtized, which means “decade.” The suffix –es turns a noun into an adjective, so évtizedes literally means “decadal” or “pertaining to a decade.” In everyday usage the word is most often part of a date phrase such as 20-as évtizedes or 1970-as évtizedes, which translate respectively to “the 1920s” and “the 1970s.” These constructions are standard in descriptive writing, journalism, and historical discussion.
