Értékpapírpiacon, which translates to "securities market" in English, refers to the marketplace where financial instruments like stocks, bonds, and other tradable assets are bought and sold. These markets play a crucial role in the economy by facilitating capital formation for businesses and governments and providing investment opportunities for individuals and institutions.

The primary function of the securities market is to connect entities that need capital (issuers) with those that have surplus capital to invest (investors). Issuers, such as companies or governments, sell securities to raise funds for expansion, projects, or to finance operations. Investors, in turn, purchase these securities with the expectation of receiving a return on their investment, either through dividends, interest payments, or capital appreciation.
