Érimón

Érimón, also known as Eremon, is a figure from Irish mythology. He is traditionally presented as a descendant of the Milesians, a group of seafaring warriors who conquered Ireland. According to the Lebor Gabála Érenn (The Book of Invasions), Érimón was one of the two sons of Míl Espáine and Scota, and the elder brother of Éber Finn.

When the Milesians arrived in Ireland, they encountered the Tuatha Dé Danann, the previous inhabitants of the island. After a series of battles and political negotiations, the Milesians ultimately gained control of Ireland. Érimón and Éber Finn are said to have divided the island between themselves, with Érimón taking the northern half and Éber Finn the southern half. This division established the High Kingship of Ireland, with the brothers ruling as joint High Kings.

The reign of Érimón is often associated with establishing laws and order in Ireland. Various Irish annals and legendary accounts describe his rule and his descendants, who continued to be prominent figures in Irish history and mythology. The exact historical veracity of Érimón and the Milesian conquest is a matter of scholarly debate, with many scholars viewing these narratives as allegorical or etiological rather than literal historical accounts. Nevertheless, Érimón remains a significant character in the rich tapestry of early Irish literature and tradition.
