Milesians
Milesians are a legendary people in Irish mythology regarded as the ancestors of the Gaelic-speaking Irish. In medieval Irish literature they are presented as the final wave of settlers who came to Ireland after earlier mythic inhabitants and as the source of the Gaelic surname and language tradition that defines “Gaels.” The tradition names Míl Espáine (Milesian) as the progenitor or the eponymous ancestor of this group, linking the Irish to a Hispano-Iberian origin.
