Ärilian refers to the culture and language of an ancient civilization described in worldbuilding and speculative fiction. The name is used for both the people and their language, and in some settings for the architectural and artistic traditions they produced.

The heartland lies in the central river valley of Eldara, where the Sira River runs through terraced plains and limestone foothills. The principal urban center, Solenaar, sits at the valley's bend and is noted for stone citadels and a network of canals.

Chronology places Ärilia's emergence in the late Bronze Age. A series of city-states coalesced into a regional culture during the Solinar Era (roughly 600–300 BCE). The civilization declined after centuries of drought and conflict, leaving monumental ruins and intangible influence on neighboring societies.

Society was organized around guilds and lineages, with public life centered on temples and public works. Achievements include hydraulic engineering, ceramic glaze, and monumental sculpture. Religion generally emphasized solar cycles and river fertility, shaping agricultural calendars and festival cycles.

Ärilian is attested in inscriptions on stone and ceramic, written in a syllabic script known as Aureli. The language consisted of phonemic vowels and consonants, with oral tradition preserving myths, genealogies, and technical manuals.

Engineering projects include terraces, irrigation canals, and aqueducts that watered crops and reduced flood risk. Observatories and calendars reflected a systematic approach to astronomy, guiding agriculture and ceremonial schedules.

In contemporary fiction, Ärilian remains a common subject for archaeologists, game designers, and scholars of ancient technology. Ruins, artifacts, and reconstructed inscriptions appear in museums and virtual reconstructions, shaping ideas about premodern urbanism.
