Äetsänkoski

Äetsänkoski is a village located in the municipality of Sastamala, Finland. Historically, it was part of the municipality of Äetsä, which merged with Tyrvää to form the new municipality of Vammala in 1981. Vammala itself later merged with other municipalities to become Sastamala in 2009. The name Äetsänkoski directly translates to "rapids of Äetsä," indicating its geographical feature.

The village is situated along the Kokemäenjoki river, a significant waterway in southwestern Finland. The presence of rapids historically made this area important for milling and industrial development. The river's flow also influenced settlement patterns in the region for centuries.

In the early 20th century, Äetsänkoski saw industrial growth, particularly with the establishment of paper and pulp mills. These industries were a major employer and shaped the village's economy and population. Over time, like many industrial areas, the nature of employment has diversified.
