Áttetszségi

Áttetszségi is a Hungarian term that translates to "translucency" or "translucence" in English. It refers to the property of a material that allows light to pass through it, but not to the extent that objects on the other side can be clearly distinguished. In essence, a translucent object diffuses light, making it appear hazy or blurred when viewed through the material. This is in contrast to transparent materials, which allow light to pass through without significant scattering, enabling clear vision of objects on the opposite side.

Examples of translucent materials include frosted glass, thin paper, and certain types of plastics. The degree of translucency can vary greatly. Some materials are only slightly translucent, while others are highly so, allowing only a faint outline of objects to be perceived. This property is often desirable in applications where a soft, diffused light is needed, such as in lampshades, shower doors, or decorative screens. The physical structure of the material, such as the presence of small particles or irregular surfaces, is what causes light to scatter and results in translucency.
