Áramlásmodellek, or flow models, are mathematical or computational representations used to describe and predict the movement of fluids, gases, or other continuous substances. These models are fundamental to a wide range of scientific and engineering disciplines. They are employed to understand phenomena such as weather patterns, ocean currents, blood flow within the human body, and the behavior of air over an aircraft wing.

The development of flow models typically involves applying fundamental physical principles, most notably the laws of conservation of mass, momentum, and energy. These principles are often expressed as a set of partial differential equations. For many real-world applications, these equations are too complex to solve analytically, necessitating the use of numerical methods. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a specialized field dedicated to solving these equations using computers.

Different types of flow models exist depending on the complexity of the flow and the desired level of accuracy. Simple models might assume inviscid or incompressible flow, where viscosity and compressibility effects are negligible. More advanced models incorporate turbulence, heat transfer, chemical reactions, or multiphase flows, where multiple substances interact. The choice of model depends on the specific problem being investigated and the computational resources available. Applications range from designing more efficient vehicles and optimizing industrial processes to understanding the spread of pollutants and forecasting natural disasters.
