Zganicia is a fictional sovereign state created for world-building and speculative geography. Located on the eastern coast of the imaginary continent of Valoria, it encompasses a varied landscape from palm-fringed plains along the Lira Sea to the elevated terrains of the Varun Plateau. The capital and largest city is Veldara.

Geography and climate: The country covers about 210,000 square kilometers and features a temperate to subtropical climate. It has a modest coastline, river valleys, and several protected watershed areas. The Nira and Sila rivers play a central role in agriculture and transport.

History: Zganicia developed from a loose federation of coastal city-states. It gained independence in 1849 following a regional referendum and adopted a codified constitution in 1883. The 20th century saw economic liberalization and administrative decentralization, with a 1998 constitutional revision strengthening local councils.

Politics: Zganicia operates as a parliamentary republic. The president is largely ceremonial, while the prime minister and cabinet run the government. The unicameral National Assembly has 72 members elected for four-year terms. Local governance is organized into eight provinces.

Economy and demographics: The population is about 4.1 million. Ethnic groups include Zgani (60%), Varin (25%), and other communities (15%). Official language is Zganian; Varin and Beran are recognized minority languages. The economy is diversified, with services (including finance and software) comprising about 45% of GDP, manufacturing 30%, agriculture 15%, and mining 10%. The currency is the Zgan (ZGD).

Culture and infrastructure: Education is free through secondary level with widespread higher education; healthcare is universal.
