Zerstäubung refers to the process of breaking down a bulk liquid into a spray of fine droplets. This transformation is achieved through various methods, often involving the application of energy to the liquid. The primary goal of zerstäubung is to increase the surface area of the liquid, which can facilitate processes like evaporation, mixing, or combustion.

The physical principles behind zerstäubung vary depending on the specific technique employed.
