zator

Zator is a town in southern Poland, situated in Lesser Poland Voivodeship (Malopolskie), in Oświęcim County. It is the seat of the urban-rural gmina of Zator. The town lies near Oświęcim and serves as a local center for the surrounding villages.

Zator has medieval origins and is mentioned in historical records dating back to the Middle Ages. Throughout the centuries it developed as a market settlement and agricultural community.

The modern economy combines agriculture with growing tourism. In the 2010s, Zator gained prominence as the site of Energylandia, one of Poland's largest amusement parks, which has attracted visitors from across the country and abroad.

Energylandia opened in 2014 and expanded rapidly, featuring a large collection of roller coasters, other thrill rides, and a water park. The park has contributed to local employment and infrastructure development.

Transport and access: Zator is connected by road to the regional road network; the nearest railway stations are in Oświęcim or Wadowice, with bus services linking the town to nearby communities.
