zajszinttel

Zajszinttel is the instrumental form of zajszint, a Hungarian noun meaning the noise level. The zajszint indicates the level of acoustic energy in a space or during a measurement and is usually expressed in decibels with A-weighting, written as dB(A). The form zajszinttel is used to describe conditions or specifications “with a noise level of” or “at a noise level of,” for example: zajszinttel 55 dB(A) mérve (measured at a noise level of 55 dB(A)).

In practice, zajszinttel appears in engineering and environmental reporting to specify how a condition is defined or measured at a particular noise level. Measurements require a calibrated sound level meter, a defined position, a stated duration, and a weighting. The most common reporting convention uses dB(A) to reflect human hearing, and may include descriptors such as LAeq, Lmax, or Lden depending on the purpose of the assessment.

Values can vary widely by time, place, and method: quiet indoor environments are often around 30–40 dB(A), ordinary offices and homes roughly 40–50 dB(A), and busy urban streets commonly higher, in the 65–85 dB(A) range.
