Wydechowych is a Polish adjective related to exhaust, referring to gases produced by combustion in engines as well as to the systems and components that manage these gases after combustion. In automotive and industrial contexts, the term is used in phrases such as system wydechowy (exhaust system) or emisje wydechowe (exhaust emissions). It denotes both the path of the gases and the technologies that reduce noise and pollution.

In automotive engineering, the wydechowy system includes several key elements: kolektor wydechowy (exhaust manifold) that collects gases from cylinders, rura wydechowa and flexible sections that channel gases toward the rear, katalizator (catalytic converter) and rezonator or tłumik (muffler) to reduce pollutants and noise, and czujniki (oxygen sensors) that monitor exhaust composition for engine management. Together, these components direct exhaust away from the vehicle, convert harmful pollutants into less harmful substances, and attenuate noise. Materials used for wydechowych components, such as stainless steel or aluminized steel, are chosen for heat resistance and corrosion protection.

Emissions control and compliance are central to wydechowy design. Catalytic converters, lambda sensors, and on-board diagnostics help meet environmental standards (for example, Euro emission standards) and ensure proper engine operation. Maintenance considerations include preventing corrosion, checking gaskets and joints, and monitoring exhaust leaks. While most discussions focus on road vehicles, wydechowych systems also apply to stationary and marine engines, where similar principles govern emission reduction and noise control.
