Wskanikowych is a term used in some Polish linguistic discussions to refer to a subclass of discursive markers that signal indicators of stance, relevance, or argumentative structure within a text. The label is not widely standardized and appears mainly in theoretical debates about how writers guide readers through reasoning and emphasis. In this sense, wskanikowych denotes elements that function like pointers or signposts in discourse, rather than content-bearing assertions themselves.

Etymologically, the word combines wskaznik, meaning indicator or pointer, with the adjectival suffix -owych, forming an expression used to describe indicators that operate within discourse. Practically, the category can include various lexical items such as particles, adverbs, and conjunctions whose primary role is to mark relationships between clauses, highlight contrasts, or indicate conclusions, rather than convey new factual information.

In usage, researchers consider wskanikowych markers when analyzing text cohesion and stance. They examine positions in clauses, their scope over neighboring sentences, and how they interact with prosody or formatting. Examples aligned with the concept—though not all are universally labeled as such—include contrastive particles like nevertheless, thus, consequently, as well as discourse adverbs such as furthermore or indeed. The focus is on their function as discourse navigators rather than their semantic content.

Some scholars prefer terminology such as wyrażenia wskazujące or simply discursive markers, and may treat wskanikowych as one of several overlapping categories. The term remains a topic of discussion rather than a settled classification in Polish linguistics.
