Watnföll, also known as "waterfall" in English, refers to a geological feature where water flows over a vertical drop in the course of a river or stream. These natural formations occur when the rate of water flow is higher than the rate at which the underlying bedrock can be eroded away. Over time, the continuous flow of water carves out a steep drop, creating the characteristic appearance of a cascading or plunging waterfall.

Waterfalls are found in various environments worldwide, from tropical rainforests to arid deserts, and can range in size from small trickles to massive cascades like Angel Falls in Venezuela, which is the world’s highest at 979 meters (3,212 feet).
