vuosikello
A vuosikello, which translates to "year clock" or "annual cycle" in Finnish, refers to the traditional, seasonal rhythm of activities and events that have historically structured life in Finland. This concept is deeply rooted in the agricultural past and the natural cycles of the Nordic climate. The vuosikello encompasses the changing seasons, from the long, dark winters and the subsequent thaw and spring planting, through the short, bright summers and the harvest of autumn, leading back to winter's dormancy.
Each phase of the vuosikello has traditionally been associated with specific tasks, celebrations, and social customs.
While modern Finnish society is highly industrialized and urbanized, the principles of the vuosikello still influence
