Voolulines, also known as streamlines, are curves that represent the instantaneous direction of flow of a fluid. Imagine a fluid moving in a complex, swirling pattern. A streamline is a curve that is tangent to the velocity vector of the fluid at every point along the curve. If you were to place a tiny, massless particle in the fluid, its path over an infinitesimally short period of time would align with the streamline at its current location.

Streamlines are a fundamental concept in fluid dynamics, providing a visual and analytical tool for understanding fluid motion. They are particularly useful in steady flow, where the velocity at any given point in space does not change over time. In steady flow, streamlines coincide with the paths of individual fluid particles, known as pathlines, and also with streaklines, which are the lines traced by all particles that have passed through a particular point. However, in unsteady flow, these three types of lines can differ significantly.

The concept of streamlines is applied across various fields, including aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, meteorology, and even in the study of blood flow. By visualizing streamlines, engineers and scientists can identify regions of high or low velocity, areas of turbulence, and the overall flow patterns around objects like aircraft wings or in rivers.
