Vizeletanalízis, often translated as urinalysis, is a laboratory test performed on a urine sample. It is a common diagnostic tool used to detect and monitor a wide range of medical conditions, including urinary tract infections, kidney disease, diabetes, and liver problems. The analysis typically involves examining the physical, chemical, and microscopic characteristics of the urine.

Physically, the color and clarity of the urine are observed. Deviations from the normal straw-yellow color or cloudy appearance can indicate underlying issues. Chemical analysis involves using dipsticks that react with specific substances in the urine. These tests can detect the presence of glucose, protein, ketones, bilirubin, nitrites, and leukocytes, among others, providing clues about metabolic imbalances or infections.

Microscopic examination of the urine sediment is the third component. After centrifuging the urine, the solid elements settle at the bottom and are then analyzed under a microscope. This can reveal the presence of red blood cells, white blood cells, bacteria, crystals, and casts, which are cylindrical structures formed in the kidney tubules. Each component provides valuable information for diagnosis and treatment planning.
