Videoväljundit, Swedish for video output, refers to the means by which a device sends video signals to a display, projector, or recording device. It encompasses analog and digital interfaces and defines how video data is produced, transmitted, and interpreted by the receiving device.

Historically, video output began with analog connectors such as VGA and composite, evolved to digital interfaces including DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort, and today also employs USB-C with DisplayPort Alternate Mode and, on some systems, HDMI over USB-C, as well as wireless display protocols.

Video output relies on standards and negotiation: EDID communicates display capabilities to the source; HDCP can apply to protected content; and consumer electronics control (CEC) allows some devices to be operated from a single remote. These mechanisms help ensure proper timing, color, and control across devices.

Configuration is typically done in system settings or device menus, selecting resolution, refresh rate, color depth, and sometimes overscan or scaling. The goal is to match the source's capabilities with the display's native resolution for best clarity and performance.

Common issues include compatibility between older devices and newer interfaces, cable bandwidth limits, and driver or firmware availability. The choice of interface affects maximum resolution and refresh rate; newer standards such as HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.0 offer higher bandwidth to support advanced features like high refresh rates and HDR.
