The vibraphonissa is a female vibraphonist, a musician who plays the vibraphone. The vibraphone is a percussion instrument in the metallophone family. It consists of tuned metal bars, similar to a glockenspiel, but with resonators underneath each bar. These resonators are typically tubes of metal, and the instrument features a motor-driven mechanism that spins fans inside the top of each resonator. This rotating fan, or vibrato, creates the characteristic pulsating or vibrato effect that gives the instrument its name.
