Once a vesicle has formed, it is guided along cytoskeletal tracks, primarily microtubules, by motor proteins. This directed movement ensures that vesicles reach their correct target compartment. Upon arrival, the vesicle membrane fuses with the target compartment's membrane, releasing its contents. This fusion process is highly regulated and involves specific protein interactions.
