Vertragsrechtlich is an adjective and adverb derived from vertrag (contract) and recht (law). It denotes a relation to or a perspective from contract law. The term is distinct from vertraglich. Vertraglich typically means arising from or contained in a contract itself, such as vertragliche Pflichten or vertragliche Vereinbarungen. Vertragsrechtlich, by contrast, points to the framework, principles, or issues that belong to contract law as a field. For example, vertraglich may describe obligations created by a specific agreement, while vertragsrechtlich describes how those obligations are treated under contract law, or how contract-law rules apply to a given situation. The inflected form vertragsrechtlichen is used before nouns in plural or in certain cases, as in vertragsrechtliche Regelungen or vertragsrechtlichen Ansprüche.

In legal practice, vertragsrechtlich appears in statutes, court decisions, and scholarly writings to categorize topics such as interpretation, formation, validity, breach, remedies, termination, and disputes within the realm of contract law. It can be used to distinguish contract-law concerns from other legal domains (for example, vertragsrechtliche Aspekte vs. allgemeine zivilrechtliche Aspekte). The term helps to signal the scope of analysis or regulation as pertaining to how contracts are governed and enforced under the relevant legal system.
